The cycle goes: you start a new diet, you have restricted a few foods that you no longer can eat, you lose a little weight and go ok for a while but it never lasts.
You end up obsessing over those foods you cannot eat, you are hungry, feel deprived but you keep telling yourself it's ok. Eventually you can no longer go with willpower and you cave and eat everything in sight.
You end up putting the weight back on. You now are overcome with guilt and shame, and feel like you failed.

We learn our eating habits from a very young age
If you think back to when you were a child and your parents would tell you to eat everything off your plate. So you did to please your parents but what is this teaching you? It is making you eat past fullness and to eat whether you were hungry or not. This could be damaging in the future as you eat past fullness which can lead to overeating and weight gain. So we really need to start to eat mindfully and intuitively. Relearning what it is to truly feel hunger and how it feels to be full and really start to get in tune with our bodies again.

I love my job and having a background in cooking I really love to help people fall back in love with nourishing food and to not see food as the enemy anymore.

What do you like to eat, what do you hate? can you cook? what is your budget? do you like to snack? what is your history with weight loss and diets? how do you feel about yourself? why do you want to lose weight? what will be your motivating factor and your drive?
This is helping me gain information on you so we can work out the best way to move forward. What bits do you end up struggling with and finding practical solutions to overcome them. If you have a setback, that is no problem, you pick yourself up, learn from it and move on. It is never a linear process, there will always be issues and life that gets in the way but the long term trend of success will be there. Tomorrow is a new day!
These are just some of the questions you may be asked to get a clearer picture of you and your life. This is why I do not go generic plans and there is no one size fits all approach. We are all so individual and everyone has different goals, needs and wants.
What I have found is that the issue isn't the food itself but an accumulation of long term lifestyle habits, emotional eating- where you eat or drink certain things to help you feel better and being stuck in a rut and being unsure of what and how to eat due to so many conflicting health messages out there.
New habits can form, a healthier relationship with yourself and food can happen, no more deprivation and self loathing, no more diets. You just need help in finding what works for YOU. Do not worry about what your friends are doing because they are not you!
