Why see me?
What do I do?
My main role as a nutritionist is to help people achieve optimal health by providing information and advice about health and food choices.
The field of nutrition is ever evolving, and so must we!
Nutrition is not just black or white, there are many shades in between and every person is unique and should be treated as such. There is no one size fits all approach, so when you come in all advice is personalised to you.
Problems can go a lot deeper than just the food aspect, so there is usually a lot of talking involved so we can come up with a way forward that is both achievable in the long-term and sustainable. You must be able to eat this way forever, there is no end date.
Create something you don't fall off, a way that is enjoyable and not restrictive. All diets work, at least in the short term; however they are usually not sustainable due to simply not suiting you and your life.
Trust me when I say, there is a better way!
I NEVER advocate restrictive diets and I do not believe there are "bad" or "good" foods, nothing should be off limits.
When you include all your favorite foods in the appropriate amounts, then you never feel like you are on a diet. This way of eating is sustainable and can give you the results you desire. No more yo-yoing, and going on endless "diets"
I’m here to help you change your life – this is my PASSION and I love what I do.
In NZ anyone can set up and call themselves a nutritionist.
I have seen the term "registered clinical nutritionist" being used. There are many of these "nutritionists" in Napier.
Use of the term “clinical” as well as with “holistic” and “therapeutic” can all be a warning sign that the nutritionist doesn’t have a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or a Master’s in Nutrition – the minimum you should expect if you’re paying for advice.
In my opinion it's a clever term alternative practitioners use to get around the accepted, recognised evidence based field of nutrition.
They often will use terms such as "adrenal fatigue", "leaky gut" as well as the latest buzz words; detox, cleanse, clean eating, remove toxins, wellness, optimal, super foods, and my favorite.... hair testing and other methods for food intolerances....oh boy.
They are all just bullshit health marketing claims and if you see any of these- RUN!
sciencebasedmedicine.org/igg-food-intolerance-tests-continue-to-mislead-consumers-into-unnecessary-dietary-restrictions/
Now I know that these practitioners are meaning well but they are unwittingly promoting pseudoscience-not evidence based science.
Dr Bill Sukala does a fabulous article that I recommend that you read!

What happens in a consultation?
During your nutritional therapy consultation I ask you lots of questions to gain valuable insight to dietary and lifestyle factors that are contributing to symptoms and health conditions you are experiencing.
I will then explain these factors to you and then we work together to make a plan with attainable dietary and lifestyle changes necessary to help alleviate your symptoms and restore optimum health.
This is your chance to tell your story. I am here to listen to everything you have to say, without judgement.
What happens at the end of the consultation?
At Forever Nutrition we believe simple changes in our diet and lifestyle can have a profound effect on our health and wellbeing.
The first rule of good nutrition is to pay attention to your own body and how you feel. We are all unique, and this is reflected in the foods we need to feel our best.
Nutritional therapy is more than just healthy eating; it is based on scientific research into how our individual biochemistry works and how we can nourish our own bodies and keep them at the peak of health.
A qualified nutritionist can help you sort out what will work best for you to gain the level of health and energy you desire.
